Bringing preloved frames back to life
If you’re anything like me, you hate waste and love recycling. You opt for second-hand over new whenever you can. And ‘Faux’ is a word you try and avoid. Welcome to Frames from the Attic, the first online shop to sell preloved antique, vintage and modern picture and photo frames, while providing a Mounting & Framing service to the local community.
Based from my home in idyllic rural Devon, I creatively revive each preloved frame so that when you buy it, it comes with all the essential ingredients. I can match colours to suit your decor, styles to suit the era of your house, or create feature walls to showcase your photographs. And if you’d prefer mirror in your frame as opposed to glass, just ask! Every frame is supplied with:
- Glass: Original glass or if badly damaged or missing, replaced with 2mm float glass
- Backing board: White conservation quality
- Screw eyes: Brass plated (NB: ‘D’ rings in chrome for larger/heavier frames)
- Cord: Braided nylon that doesn’t fade
A standard Mounting and Framing service is available to those close by (or those willing to travel), but please make an appointment to avoid disappointment. This is a standalone service and one that does not rely upon buying a frame from my shop. Please by all means bring your own frame and artwork.
With the prediction that the UK will reach its limit for landfill by 2018, there are still huge amounts to be done. Whilst excessive production of short-lived readily-disposable items and over consumption are to blame, peoples’ attitudes also need to change. Why not help to support the fight against a “throw-away” society. Don’t buy a new frame; buy one that’s preloved and picturesque.
If you have any used frames you’d like to get rid of or pass on, please get in touch by emailing me at: email@example.com. And don’t be afraid to share your views and opinions via the Facebook Page and/or Twitter.
Thank you for visiting my site. I hope you find something you like. If not, let me know and I’ll do my best to find it!
